Algorithms are vital to any solid SEO strategy. To practice SEO is to understand the core updates. Between 2011 and 2015 Google rolled out is core updates. These updates are vital for any SEO practitioner to understand. In my experience of creating SEO strategies, I always find it useful to keep these front of mind. Google is not overly transparent with these updates. From 2017 to today Google refers to its bigger updates as Core updates. As SEOs we are always tracking post changes. My approach is to strategise with these in mind, as I believe the core updates are always being improved outside of the major updates. The objective for Google is always to improve the SERPs and the users journey and experience on the website.

2011 – 2015 Google Algorithms updates

These are not all of them, but are very important to keep in mind for SEO.

  1. Panda 2011 -Duplicate, plagiarised or thin content; user-generated spam; keyword stuffing.
